USAID

OffGridBox is one of 9 companies selected by the Powering Africa Opportunities Program, to electrify health centers in Sub-Saharan Africa. This USAID sponsored program aims to include the private sector in providing electricity to some of the more than 90,000 clinics that still lack access to energy. OffGridBox will be providing solar energy and clean water to 6 health centres in Rwanda.

Power Africa

Power Africa was launched in 2013, bringing together technical and legal experts, the private sector, and governments from around the world to work in partnership to increase the number of people with access to power. OffGridBox is one of more than 150 companies invited to join forces with Power Africa in reaching the overarching goals of 30,000 MW of cleaner energy and 60 million new connections by 2030.

United Nations Development Program

Under a UNDP funded project to bring clean energy and safe water to off-grid marginalized communities in Tanzania, we have installed 12 boxes in districts around Lake Victoria, as well as on islands in Lake Victoria. These boxes provide electricity to pump and treat water, to charge battery packs for households and eventually also for productive use, like ice making, cold storage, and irrigation.

EDP

OffGridBox received funding from the Access to Energy programme from the (Portuguese) energy company EDP, to install 6 OffGridBoxes in 4 refugee camps and host communities in Rwanda. EDP, with its vocation of openness to the world and sustainability, launched the A2E Fund in 2018 to support renewable energy projects that promote the environmental, social and economic development of rural communities in developing countries. With 3 editions underway, EDP has so far selected projects in Mozambique, Malawi, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola and Rwanda,

The Energy and Environment Partnership covering Southern and East Africa (EEP Africa) is a multi-donor fund providing early stage grant and catalytic financing to innovative clean energy projects, technologies and business models. Since 2010, EEP Africa has received funding support from Austria, Finland, NDF and the United Kingdom. OffGridBox has received funding from EEP Africa to install a total of 20 of our units in Rwanda.

DOEN Foundation

We secured a loan from the DOEN Foundation, a Dutch fund that supports pioneers who work hard to establish a greener, more socially-inclusive, and more creative society. With this funding, we will be able to deploy 12 OffGridBoxes in Rwanda, as part of our efforts to scale up our social impact activities.

Good Energies Foundation

We received a grant from Good Energies, a Foundation which believes that reversing climate change and alleviating poverty go hand in hand. Their goal is to help prevent climate change and mitigate its harm, especially to people who live in poverty. The focus is on two levers that reverse climate change: clean energy and forest protection. Backed by a family of entrepreneurs, Good Energies Foundation invests in early-stage market solutions and funds efforts to bring successful approaches to scale.

AquaLife Foundation

We received a grant from AqwaLife Foundation, a Foundation arm of AquaTech Corporation, which believes that reversing climate change and providing clean water to save lives go hand in hand. Their goal is to help prevent waterborne diseases and harmful contaminants, especially to people who live in poverty. Backed by a team of water engineers, AquaLife Foundation funds efforts to improve water access to all.
